Viggo Mortensen will move from Middle Earth to 15th Century Italy for his next project.
The Hollywood Reporter said Mortensen, whose star is on the rise following his role in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, is in talks to star in director Neil Jordan’s Borgia.
The historical drama follows the corrupt Borgia family, including Lucretia, Cesare and Roderigo, the latter who became Pope Alexander VI and ran a corrupt Vatican, the report said.
Mortensen is eyeing the role of Cesare, the report said. Director Jordan’s credits include The End of the Affair, Michael Collins, The Crying Game and Interview With The Vampire.
